No, you are not required to accept AI music on Groover. As a curator, you have full control over the kind of music you want to receive. Some curators are open to tracks made with AI, others only accept AI used for production, and others prefer music made entirely by human artists. That’s totally fine and we fully respect your choice.
Groover was created to support independent artists, and both human creation and human curation are at the very core of our reason for existence. Even though the topic is highly visible, AI-generated music remains marginal on
Groover. Most tracks promoted through Groover are not AI-generated, and we monitor these stats closely.
Here’s how to manage your AI preference on Groover:
1. How artists declare AI use
When they send a track, artists choose one of 4 options:
AI-generated (e.g. via Suno, Udio)
AI-assisted: core elements (e.g. vocals, melody, lyrics)
AI-assisted: production only (e.g. mixing, mastering, backing instrumentation)
No AI used
You’ll see the level the artist declared in the track details when you review it.
2. Choose your AI preference
Go to the AI preference card in your profile settings and pick the level that suits you:
Yes, I accept AI-generated music: you’re open to receiving and reviewing any track, including tracks fully created by AI.
I accept AI-assisted music, but not fully AI-generated tracks: AI can be used anywhere in the creative process (vocals, melody, lyrics) as long as there’s meaningful human authorship.
I only accept AI used for secondary elements: AI is fine for production tasks (mixing, mastering, backing instrumentation), but not for core creative elements or whole tracks.
No, I don’t accept AI-generated or AI-assisted music: you prefer not to receive any track that used AI, even minimally.
Your choice shows as a badge on your public profile. When an artist’s track goes beyond the level you accept, your profile is flagged as a mismatch for them, and they’re warned before contacting you.
💡 Already set "No" before?
We've moved you to "I accept AI-assisted music, but not fully AI-generated tracks", which works exactly like your previous setting. If you'd also like to stop receiving AI-assisted tracks, choose a stricter level in your AI preference card.
You can also add a sentence about this in your bio, for example:
“I only accept tracks where AI was used for mixing or mastering.”
3. Don’t assume a track is AI-generated unless it’s clearly stated
Some music may sound electronic or synthetic, but that doesn’t always mean it was created with AI. Please avoid making assumptions in your review, even if you think AI tools were used.
You can use words to describe what you don’t like about the track without mentioning AI:
“generic”
“predictable”
“too polished”
“lacking emotion”
If you’re curious, you can ask the artist directly in your feedback:
“Was this track created with the help of AI or fully by you?” (don’t forget to tick “the artist can contact me” if you want to receive a reply)
Being open while remaining respectful helps maintain Groover’s constructive spirit.
4. Always aim for honest, respectful feedback
Whether you accept AI music or not, Groover always encourages constructive and respectful communication between artists and curators. Clear expectations on both sides improve the quality of feedback and the overall experience on the platform. Thank you for your work on Groover!
