What are main opportunities?
A curator/pro’s main opportunity is their bread-and-butter offering — essentially, what they signed up on the platform to do. It reflects their highest-impact opportunity and matches with their Curator Type.
Ex: A Playlist Curator’s main opportunity is always “Add to impactful Spotify playlist(s)”
Ex: A Label’s main opportunity is always “Sign artist or release their music”
There are also other ways a curator can show support, which are less aligned with their Curator Type.
Ex: A Playlist Curator may give an opportunity by adding an artist to their Instagram story
Ex: A Label may give an opportunity by adding an artist to their Spotify playlist
When does a curator/pro give a main opportunity?
Curators first and foremost try to give main opportunities, since that’s why they’re generally being contacted!
They may give you an opportunity that’s not their main opportunity in one of these cases:
They love your track so much that they want to give you another opportunity in addition to a main opportunity, thus supporting you in multiple ways.
They like a track enough that they want to support you, but not to the extent that they want to give you a main opportunity.
They believe one of their other opportunities is a better fit for what you’re looking for (e.g. a Playlist Curator adds you to their story, since you’ve said in your pitch that you’re looking specifically to increase your reach on social media).
How do you know which kind of opportunity you’ve received?
If you receive an opportunity in your artist dashboard, you’ll see a green tag labeled “Main” next to the opportunity. If not, you’ve received another opportunity.
